How much should I tip?

In the UK, 10–15% is standard for restaurants with table service. Many places add a discretionary service charge of 12.5%. Tipping is less expected in pubs, cafes, and for takeaway orders.

Calculating a tip

Multiply the bill by the tip percentage divided by 100. For a 15% tip on a £50 bill: 50 × 0.15 = £7.50. The total comes to £57.50. The calculator does this for you and updates as you type.

Splitting the bill

Add the tip to the bill total, then divide by the number of people. The calculator handles this automatically — just enter the number of people sharing and it works out each person's share including the tip.
