Time Between Dates Calculator

How do you calculate the time between two dates?

The calculator finds the difference in complete years, then complete months, then remaining days. Because months have different lengths (28–31 days), the result accounts for the actual calendar dates rather than using a fixed average. For example, from 31 January to 1 March is 1 month and 1 day, not 30 days divided by some average month length.

Does this calculator account for leap years?

Yes. It uses actual calendar dates for all calculations, so leap years are handled automatically. A period spanning 29 February in a leap year will correctly count that extra day.

Can I calculate time between past and future dates?

Yes, the calculator works in either direction. You can enter any two dates — both in the past, both in the future, or one of each — and it will show the time between them.
