How do you scale a recipe?

Divide your desired servings by the original servings to get the scale factor. Multiply every ingredient amount by this factor. For example, scaling from 4 to 6 servings gives a 1.5× multiplier, so 200g of flour becomes 300g.

Do cooking times change when scaling?

Cooking times can change when scaling, but not proportionally. Larger volumes may need longer cooking at the same temperature. Check internal temperature rather than relying on time alone, especially for baked goods and meat.

Can you halve or double any recipe?

Most recipes scale well when halved or doubled. Baking recipes are more sensitive because leavening agents (baking powder, yeast) may not scale linearly. For best results with baking, scale by no more than 2× at a time.
