What is the difference between calories and kilocalories?

One kilocalorie (kcal) equals 1,000 calories (cal). Food labels typically show kilocalories, often written as "Calories" with a capital C. When a food label says 200 Calories, it means 200 kilocalories.

How many joules are in a kilowatt-hour?

One kilowatt-hour (kWh) equals 3,600,000 joules or 3,600 kilojoules. A kWh is the standard unit for measuring electricity consumption on energy bills.

What is a BTU?

A BTU (British Thermal Unit) is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. One BTU equals approximately 1,055 joules. BTUs are commonly used for heating and air conditioning.
